About Hans Construction
Hans Construction builds decks, patios and outdoor rooms, and nothing else. We chose that focus because outdoor structures in Puget Sound live a harder life than anything inside the house, and building them well takes details most general contractors skip: flashed ledgers, taped joists, footings set for wet soil, boards spaced for shade and needles. Our crew does those details on every job, from Kirkland across the Eastside and into Seattle.
The work we take on
Composite and cedar decks, deck replacements, covered patios, pavilions, pergolas, outdoor kitchens, paver patios, hillside and multi-level decks, railings and stairs, screened porches, hot tub decks, fire features, and deck repairs and inspections. We design each project, prepare the permit where one is needed, and build it with our own crew.

Leads every build
Probes the ledger and framing before any replacement is priced, checks footing depth, flashing and joist tape on every deck, and walks each finished project with the owner.
Plans every layout
Measures the yard, maps sun, slope and drainage, and models each design in 3D against the house, with furniture in place, before a footing is dug.
Runs the crew on site
Keeps the same crew on the job from footings to final railing, schedules the city inspections and sends the end-of-day update.
Licenses, certifications and insurance
- Washington State contractor registration, verifiable through the Department of Labor & Industries contractor lookup.

How we build
- We look under the deck before we price the deck. Every quote on a replacement starts with probing the ledger and framing.

- We tape every joist, flash every ledger and put every post on a standoff base.
- We tell you when a material or design is wrong for your yard, including when cedar will not last in your shade.
